WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE MOVING TO NEW YORK

Are you thinking about moving to New York? If you are, then you need to read this article.

The Big Apple is not like other cities. It’s a whole other world. If you don’t want to find out the hard way what it really means to live here, continue reading. Because we’ll tell you what you need to know before moving to New York.

Moving to New York will make you fat

If you’re asking why, then let me tell you the simple answer to it: because of all the pizzas, bagels and other wonderful treats. There’s no doubt about it. The Big Apple has the best pizza in the world. And you’ll agree with me after moving to New York. A dollar a slice here, a dollar a slice there, and you’ll end up round and fluffy. But it will be a price you’ll be glad to pay. I’m paying it right now, as I’m writing this article. And, boy, it’s delicious!

Your world will turn into an app store

It’s good that we now have apps for everything, because you’ll need them. Moving to New York means giving up any free time. And this is where the apps come in. You have apps for buying food, detergent, anything. And it will all be delivered to your doorstep. This is the magic of apps.

Doing laundry can be expensive

Unfortunately, it’s true. And you really don’t want this truth to hit you after moving to New York. Most people living here don’t have their own washers and dryers. They use laundromats, and these can be expensive.

You will move around, a lot!

Most people moving to New York believe that they’ll just stay in one place. This is just wishful thinking. New York apartments come with a lot of problems. You’ll probably start looking for new places after a month or so. But don’t worry. This is normal. And if you’re lucky, you might just find the perfect place for you.

New York is loud

If you’re looking for peace and quiet, then you might want to look somewhere else. New York is a living being, it’s very, very loud. But this is what also makes it great.

New York City is also really fun

There’s a reason for all that noise. And that’s the party life that New York offers its inhabitants. The local bars are always full, as grabbing a drink with friends and co-workers after work is almost a religion here. You’ll love it. But be careful with those $1 shots!

Commutes are a way of life

No matter where you’re going, you’ll commute there. Trust me. If you want to meet a friend for drinks, you’ll have to take the subway for at least 15 minutes. But this is what it means to live in the big city. Pro tip: use an iPod to listen to audiobooks, music or podcasts while taking the subway.
